Queen and Princess

Queen and Princess 2009

The Queen and Princess competition took place on Monday 18th May and was a great success.  Lots of gorgeous young ladies entered and the judges certainly had a difficult decision on their hands.  The competition was held at the Royal British Legion in Christchurch and our judges for the evening were the Worshipful Mayor of Christchurch David Flagg and his Wife Denise, June & Eric North, Roy & Barbara King, and our previous years winners Tilly Mae White, Lauren Hood and Abigail Foster.  All of the entrants aproched the stage individually and were asked various questions by Maureen Morris while the judges marked them on their presentation.  The winners of this competition and representatives of Christchurch in all forth coming carnivals are:

Queen:    Emily Clifford
Consort:  Alice Collinge
Princess: Lucy Cloggie
Consort:  Shelby-Jane Carter

The Mayor and Mayoress presented the successful young ladies with a sash, their tiara's  and a silver engraved plate to commemorate the event.  Congratulations to them and we wish them luck at all the the carnivals they will be attending this year!!!!

The committee would like to thank ALL the young ladies who turned out on the evening, you all looked lovely and also the Royal British Legion for allowing us to host the event.

All of the girls will now be visiting Society Brides in Purewell for the designing and making of their carnival dresses, tiara's and accessories.  If you want to see what else Society Bride have to offer please visit www.societybrides.co.uk

Queen and Princess 2008

The selected Queen, Princess and their consorts for 2008 were:

Queen: Lauren Hood
Consort: Amanda Valentine
Princess: Abigail Foster
Consort: Tilly-Mae White

The Queen & Princess competition was held on Monday 16th June at the Royal British Legion in Christchurch. The evening was a great success with over 20 applicants all looking lovely.

Our judges for the evening were Lucy (a steward from the Royal British Legion), the Royal British Legion's Vice Chairman and his wife, the Worshipful Mayor of Christchurch Cllr David Flag and his wife Mrs Denise Flag, two representatives from the Christchurch Ex-Fireman's Association and our former Carnival Queen & Princess Hannah and Amy.

All the contestants gave a great performance and it was a very close call... But the final winners were Lauren Hood for Carnival Queen and Amanda Valentine as her consort, and Abigail Foster as Carnival Princess and Tilly-Mae White as her consort. The winning girls were presented with their tiaras, sashes and engraved silver plates by the Mayor of Christchurch and all looked great in the photos - the tiaras were supplied by Claire's Accessories in Boscombe. All of the winning girls will now take part in the Christchurch Carnival as well as various other carnivals through out the year such as Ferndown, Bournemouth, Ringwood, Swanage, Highcliffe and many more.

The girls will have their dresses donated to them by Prettymades Bridal from Highcliffe-on-Sea (www.prettymades.co.uk). Sam from Prettymades has very kindly offered her services to fit the girls in beautiful dresses and accessories at no cost to the Christchurch Regatta & Carnival Committee. Sam will have her work cut out for the year as she is not only providing the dresses but she is offering to make any alterations throughout the year as required! We are all very grateful to Sam and all of Prettymades for their generosity and look forward to seeing the outfits on the day!

This year was the first time that Maureen Morris and myself, Sarah Simmons, had played any part in the Queen & Princess field and I don't mind admitting that we were probably more nervous than the contestants! Now that the initial competition has been decided we will both be busy organising our Queens & Princesses to attend all the carnivals and other functions required of them. We would like to say a big thank you to the Royal British Legion for allowing us to host the event there, all the judges for giving up their time for us, Claire's Accessories for the tiaras, Sam from Prettymades for her sponsorship (and providing a photographer and bridal pins for the sashes on the night!) and our friends & family for their support.

Here's to a great 100th!!

This years Queen & Princess competition was held at the Royal British Legion on Monday 18th May.  Lots of lovely young ladies turned out and the judges had a tough decision on their hands!  Our judging panel consisted of Lauren Hood, Tilly-Mae White and Abigail foster who were last years winners, they were accompanied by Roy and Barbara King, June and Eric North and the Worshipful Mayor of Christchurch Cllr David Flagg and the Mayoress Denise Flagg.  Maureen Morris asked all the young ladies to the stage and asked them various questions about their lifestyle and interests to which our judges marked them on their presentation.  At the end of the contest the judging sheets were collected in and the scores counted.
