“The Last 100 Years”
Saturday 9th August 2008

Well, it is carnival time again.  The theme for this year is any event from the last 100 years to celebrate our 100th Christchurch Carnival and Regatta.

With this year being our centenary, we are hoping to make this the biggest and best carnival procession that Christchurch has ever seen!!

All of the Christchurch Carnival and Regatta activities are in support of local charities.  Your participation in the procession will help us to raise funds for these worthwhile local causes.

So, why not join us and put an entry into the procession.

As in previous years, there is no entry fee for the procession and we provide you with an excellent opportunity to advertise for your organisation to Christchurch.

If you do not have access to a float, perhaps a few people from your organisation will take part by foot.  Please let the local people know that you care (and more importantly that you exist!).  It will be a really fun day of which you can be a part and at the same time help the local community and provide the people of Christchurch with a spectacle to remember. There are also a number of prizes to be won by entrants.

We do hope that you will join us.

We are a small committee who give their time up on a voluntary basis – money is given each year to various local charities.

The procession will take place on Saturday 9th August and moves off promptly at 6:00pm from Stanpit Recreation Ground and will finish at the Barrack Road Recreation Ground.

Entrants are requested to assemble from 4:00pm at Stanpit.  You will receive a procession entry number and to be “booked in” and shown to your allocated place.  Judging will take place at 5:30pm at which time we ask all entrants to be ready so as to guarantee being including in the judging.  The parade covers a route of approximately three miles, taking about 2 hours in total.

An Entry Form and Rules are available for download from the links below and we hope to receive your favourable reply in the near future.  Please send your entry in ASAP to avoid disappointment as places are limited.  Should you require any further information, however trivial it may seem, please do not hesitate to contact me – details below.

If you are unable to take part this year – but wish to express an interest of taking part in the Carnival Procession next year, please fill in the form and return it to us, stating you wish to be sent details for the 2009 carnival when they are available.

Please consider making email your primary contact method as it saves us significant costs in terms of printing, paper, postage, etc, so we can give more of the money raised to local charities in Christchurch.

Yours truly,
